The Recipe for an Island Green Smoothie
1 cup frozen mango chunks (found in bags at Costco) 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks (found in bags at Costco) 1/2 apple, peeled and cored and chopped 2 tablespoons flax seed meal (this adds healthy fats as well as fiber; it can be found at Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods). This recipe makes two 16-ounce smoothies or one 32-ounce smoothie to share with a friend!
The Recipe for the Detox Island Green Smoothie: 1 cup fresh spinach leaves (organic if possible) 3/4 avocado, peeled and pitted 1 small banana, peeled 2 teaspoons spirulina powder (can be found at your local health food store) 1 teaspoon raw honey or maple syrup Water in two cups. For 30 seconds, blend on high in a blender. Enjoy in a glass!

While it’s good for most of us to aim for eight servings of fruit and vegetables daily (each considered one cup), leafy greens can be tough to fit into that equation;
spinach alone only comes in at 2 cups per serving, after all. One way around that issue is by adding greens like kale and romaine lettuce into your blender alongside your favorite fruits and ingredients—the texture will likely blend right into your drink without changing its taste drastically.
